Line of Service

In Deals we solve the important problems that stand in the way of value being created, sustained, realised or protected for our clients – working together to aid responsible recovery and growth. Working on iconic deals with national and global clients, we put together major mergers and acquisitions and resolve business crises – from international take-over bids to financial crime investigations and cases of insolvency. We draw upon our deals experience across many industries to support and partner with our clients, to positively impact society and the communities in which we operate.

Business Area

Together, we can build Good Business for a stronger world.

This is the decade for action. At PwC, our ambition is to build trust in the climate transition and help our clients create sustainable value to meet Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals. We do this by helping organisations to: transform sustainably; build the credibility of reporting, particularly around non-financial metrics and climate reporting; develop and implement investment strategies for the future; and support their people through a fair transition. We also continue to make sure that our own business is ready to meet the challenge, too.

Working in ESG at PwC, alongside colleagues in all lines of service including our Sustainability team, you’ll maximise the opportunities to change and create value at speed, for our clients and our communities with the care and imagination it takes to lead for the future. Together we can build good business for a stronger world.

Deals – ESG

Today, organisations need to be invested in ways that not only generate returns here and now, but also create sustainable value for the future. But what does ‘sustainable value’ mean? It’s much more than financial. It’s about regenerating environments; creating fairer, more equitable societies; and building greater trust between people, businesses, investors and governments.

To succeed, our clients now need to put ESG front of mind so they're in the best position to identify and maximise new investment opportunities, access capital, restructure or divest the old and effectively manage investment risks.

Our goal in Deals is to help our clients create truly sustainable value, bringing together the expertise, innovative thinking and cross industry insight they need to succeed, whether we are working with governments, corporates, lenders, start ups or funds.

We have four key capabilities that support our clients to do so:

  • ESG Deals Strategy & Execution – We support our clients to factor in the implications of ESG, Climate Risk and the transition to Net Zero into their investments. From ESG Deals Strategy, to ESG Diligence & Operational and Supply Chain Restructuring

  • Sustainable Investing & Financing – We help our clients to identify & access new investment opportunities; divest the old; access the most competitive capital; and/or quantify the ESG impact on business value

  • Real Assets – We help clients to structure, finance and deliver the new infrastructure needed to transition to Net Zero

  • ESG Intelligence, Investigations & Restructuring – We support our clients with ESG intelligence and insight. We bring the expertise and experience to help clients remediate or restructure rapidly; whether that's due to issues relating to ESG fraud, greenwashing or the impact of climate change on their business.

What you’ll do

We are scaling our support for clients in tackling their ESG issues and combining this with our broader capabilities across different parts of the business. Whichever team you join you’ll help clients deliver real impact and create tangible value for the organisation. You’ll do this by supporting them to make the most of the opportunities for innovation and growth created by a world economy that’s becoming greener and more inclusive.

During the internship, you’ll work on a range of internal and external projects. You’ll have the opportunity to showcase and develop your skills, whilst learning more about the team and what we do. You’ll also contribute to the development and delivery of the wider ESG proposition across PwC UK.
